On June 1st, 2019, our nationals team broke top 20 at Cornell University, and Clark got its best national ranking yet: 19th! Congratulations to our medalists in Detector Building (3rd) and Disease Detectives (2nd)! Ithaca was definitely gorges. Thank you to our coaches, our team, and our seniors for making this trip one for the books. #LastEvent

Thank you to everyone who came out for Clark Science Olympiad's 2nd Annual End-of-Year Banquet! It was a great way to celebrate the 10th year of Clark Science Olympiad. Class of 2019: We'll miss you and can't wait to see what you will all go on to do in the future. Stay tuned for the #LastEvent and to see what our nationals team will do in the postseason!
Congratulations to everyone who ran for a position in the Science Olympiad board for 2019-2020. Listed below are your 2019-2020 CSO Officers:
Co Presidents: Ashley Su and Iris Luyen VP Networking: Kara Orevillo VP Operations: Caitlyn Coloma VP Build: Althea Santos Secretary: Austin Park Treasurer: Madi Young Historian: Emily Dieu SAA: Annabelle Chu On March 2nd, 2019, Clark's 4 teams took 1st in the Nevada Science Olympiad State Tournament yet again. Clark Science Olympiad took home 65 medals, 17 of which were gold! Clark is officially Nevada's 9-time state champions! Special thanks to our advisor Mrs. Miller for directing one of the most well run state tournaments this club has seen, and to all of our other advisors. Nationals here we come!
On Saturday, February 16, Clark Science Olympiad traveled to Ithaca, New York, to compete at the 5th Annual Cornell Invitational. Our 3rd and 4th teams took 21st and 30th, respectively, and we even walked away with medals in 4 events: Experimental Design, Mission Possible, Parasitology, and Sounds of Music. Cornell marked the last of 5 invitationals that Clark Science Olympiad participated in during the 2018-2019 season. This upcoming weekend we compete at home in the Nevada State tournament, and with each of our 4 teams having competed in 2 invitationals this year, we could not be more prepared.
This past Saturday, February 9, 2019, Clark's Black and Gold teams competed at the highly reputable Golden Gate Invitational held at the University of California, Berkeley. After competing on the opposite end of the country at the MIT Invitational in January, expectations and predictions for this west coast competition were high. Clark effectively blew these expectations out of the water, medalling in 13 events, with an 11th place finish from the Gold team, and an impressive 3rd place trophy from the Black team. Needless to say, these accomplishments were unprecedented and by far the most successful performance Clark Science Olympiad has had at such a reputable tournament. We feel nothing but gratification, pride, and determination as we set our sights on victory at State and success at Nationals!
This past Saturday, Clark competed at both the MIT Invitational in Cambridge and Mira Loma Invitational in Sacramento. In December of 2018, we had walked away with 4 medals in 2 events at Troy's Invitational. At MIT, Clark took home 15 medals in 8 different events—many of which were held by freshman for the first time. Congratulations to the team for finishing 9th in one of the most intellectually competitive tournaments in the nation, and for advancing Clark's rank 7 places from last year. And congratulations to the team for a 2nd place Wright Stuff medal in Mira Loma. Clark has 2 invitationals left in 2019 before the state tournament, with our hearts set on nationals, and it seems this past week's invitationals couldn't have set a more perfect stage!
Monday, September 10 will kick off this season's Clark Science Olympiad tryouts! Member, make sure to pay your membership fee and submit both the General Interest and Tryout Events forms by Friday, September 7, or else you will not be allowed to try out. Good luck to everyone!
Clark places 25th out of the 60 best schools in the nation at the 2018 Science Olympiad National Tournament in Fort Collins, Colorado. Clark also took home 2 medals: 3rd in Ecology and 4th in Materials Science! While this was our most successful nationals performance yet, we headed home to Las Vegas with even higher hopes for next year.
Thanks to everyone who came to the first meeting held by the 2018-2019 officers! Here are the agenda and slideshow from the meeting:
